Life: 15 Things to Let Go of in the New Year

  1. Let go of regrets. I’m talking about the ‘what ifs, what might of been, and what could have been’ because ‘what could have been” …Could have been a mess.
  2. Let go of being overly sensitive. Meaning, stop taking things personally and the need to respond to criticism, petty people and every argument you’re invited to.
  3. Let go of fear of failure – it does us no good and leads to mental paralysis. Instead, stay focused on your goals and what you want to achieve.  Remember, better to try and fail than to never try and never know.
  4. Let go of the past. It has served its purpose. Give thanks for what it taught you and where it brought you. Then let it go.
  5. Let go of people who only come around when they need something… And disappear when you need something.
  6. Let go of self-doubt, negative self-talk and thinking that you are not ‘enough’. You are so much braver, smarter, and more beautiful than you give yourself credit for.
  7. Let go of giving false hope or reassurance. Don’t make promises that you can’t keep – the results can make people find it hard to trust you again even with small things.
  8. Let go of feeling entitled. It is the sense that one deserves more than others or the feeling that you are owed something without necessarily putting in effort to attain it.
  9. Let go of your excess weight. It’s not okay to be overweight for your body type–not because of how you look, but because of the health inside of you and the problems it can create. It is mostly from poor eating and lack of exercise and then expect our physicians to have a drug to bail us out.
  10. Let go of unhealthy lifestyle habits such as overindulging in food and alcohol, smoking and being sedentary. Being unhealthy is being selfish because we are depriving ourselves and those around us of what could be. And, to out it bluntly, some of us are facing premature death and will  leave behind loved ones because we could not-or would not- change our ways.
  11. Let go of fear of change. Jumping out of comfort zones by changing things up can be quite a difficult challenge – Change is beautiful thing, as it will only improve you. Step up & step out!
  12. Let go of grudges and bitterness. We’ve all had at least one person in our lives — though usually multiple persons — who has screwed us in the not-so-fun way. Learn to forgive and just let it go. Why? Everything you do should be done with a purpose, a goal. It should have some sort of beneficial result. Holding a grudge doesn’t. It literally does no good, whatsoever.
  13. Let go of blaming others for your failure, that`s not the right way to deal with it. We must know that failure is a reality of life and at some level it helps us grow. We all know that all greatest achievers, in past and present, have faced colossal failure.
  14.  Let go of feeling insecure. It’s no fun to feel envy or jealousy because both make you feel inadequate. Envy is when you want what someone else has, but jealousy is when you’re worried someone’s trying to take what you have. These can wear you out, causing you to lose your focus on your goals. Rather than thinking about the situation, take control by making your choices about what you want in your life and career. Set your personal goals, based on what you value the most.
  15. Let go of procrastination. When you procrastinate, you will never get where you need to go, and eventually you will become overwhelmed and buried underneath all the things we refused to start. Let go of the desire to put off what needs to be done, starting now.
